"Ubuntu is a Nguni Bantu term meaning "humanity". It is often translated as "I am because we are," and also "humanity towards others", but is often used in a more philosophical sense to mean "the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity"."
We are a team of professionals with various backgrounds such as mental health clinicians, addiction counselors, social workers, vocational counselors, peer supports, advocates, and educators. Through such collective experiences in the human services field we work to address recognized needs for those who work in this field and offer the support needed for all of us to succeed.
We are here to be a pillar of support as you work to assist those in need and in doing so avoid burnout. When you are adequately supported and attend to your own wellness, you can be optimally beneficial to the population you serve.
An eclectic but evidence based approach to address mental health and addiction issues.
Offering in-house or community based services.
Whether through supervision, trainings, curriculum development or by other means, we offer support for human service professionals and more. Support can be classified as formal or informal and assessed to meet the needs of the consumer.
This workbook was conceptualized for a NAMI Durham event to meet the need of people with Post-Pandemic Depression and Anxiety and the health care providers who treat these people and their families after the team conducted several “virtual” sessions in preparation for the event via support groups for stress and anxiety for minorities.
Our goals were to:
1. Educate about the causes, presentation and different treatments of Post-Pandemic Depression and anxiety.
2. Provide structured exercises to help people become active participants in their own treatment and recovery.
For every book bought, one signed book and USB thumb drive with a wellness toolkit will be donated to a client/staff/volunteer/intern of Urban Ministries of Durham, Durham Rescue Mission, and BAART Programs.
