About Us

We are truly all in this together, and we will only succeed by building mutually beneficial partnerships among civil society, the private sector, and the public sector, in order to empower the men and women executing human services to advance their work through partnerships.

I Am Because We Are

A person is a person through other people' strikes an affirmation of one’s humanity through recognition of an ‘other’ in his or her uniqueness and difference. It is a demand for a creative intersubjective formation in which the ‘other’ becomes a mirror (but only a mirror) for my subjectivity. This idealism suggests to us that humanity is not embedded in my person solely as an individual; my humanity is co-substantively bestowed upon the other and me. Humanity is a quality we owe to each other. We create each other and need to sustain this otherness creation. And if we belong to each other, we participate in our creations: we are because you are, and since you are, definitely I am. The ‘I am’ is not a rigid subject, but a dynamic self-constitution dependent on this otherness creation of relation and distance.

When One Does Well, We All Do Well

We all beneft from the knowledge gained by others if they themsleves use the knowledge to empower, educate, and/or entertain.
satisfied therapist who is a client of more than therapy

"I remember when I was in my counseling program, the professor said something so profound, "Be what you needed." So I did that for the mental health agencies where I was employed and I was seeing so much success on the caseloads but I also found myself feeling burnout after a time because I was working harder than my clients most of the time, did not have adequate support from supervisors and did not get adequate training for the more difficult cases. This program, More Than Therapy, was formed to assist those who could use additional support or who just needs something specific for a booster."

client of more than therapy - therapist who went into private practice

"I was complacent. Stuck in many ways. Took on more than I should have. Then when I decided to explore some other options, they attacked and underminded me, putting my whole career in jeopardy. I survived the lies and unethical practices and came to a realization. Grow and use everything as a stepping stone. Do not rely to heavily on the company as you are just a money maker and in a state like North Carolina, easily replaceable. They will use you til they use you up. My focus is on bettering myself and those around me. Education is the key to success."
